Description

I should draw pretty girls more often.

My stab at a pin-up for :iconliteracysuks1: 's outstanding webcomic, ACROBAT.

If you've watched me here on the dA for any length of time, you've probably heard me sing his praises already, but just in case: ACROBAT is well-scripted and very well-drawn character-driven fun, with just enough drama to keep it from being fluff but not enough to make it a wet blanket, like so many other teen-superhero comics. I gotta mention mr J.D. Smith's art again... y'know, cause I love it. Take a fifth of Mike Allred, a shot Bryan Lee O'Malley, bite into a lime and then chase it down with a swig of Paul Pope and you'll start to get the idea. His inks are so clean you could eat off them and his draftsmanship is yards ahead of his peers. But the real thing about him, the singular quality that puts him above the field of everyday Joe Schmo webcomics and into the airspace of a future professional, is his discipline. He does his pages whole issues in advance (of which he's done dearly two dozen), allowing him a steady updating schedule that keeps his readers checking back regular as a clock to see what comes next -- something so many of his peers, my humble self included, lack. It's just good damn business, something we all should take stock of.

I don't know much about much, but I have watched him grow as an artist and as a writer for a year now, and there is no doubt in my mind of minds that J.D. Smith has the makings of a major comics professional. Should he so choose. Brains, heart, and backbone -- he's the real deal.
